LR SYSTEM TEST FOR ANTENNA

Using Artificial storm injection..

-SETUP FOR ANTENNA TEST-

NOTE: Since the version 9 series of LR Programs this carrier method of injection might be tricky.  This is due to new settings  being used.  I have had it work ok but a lot of settings can give you problems.  So for the present time just keep a copy of Ver 8.6.22 in your folder to be used for testing.  Just rename the file with 8622 in the name so its not confused with the normal one..

Also a note of interest on the Spectrogram 16 program.  This site has been taken down.  He seems to have gone out of business.. If you have a copy of this excellent program, keep it safe, it may get scarce!  It is the best for LR that I have seen.

NOTE: Select the L/R channel used on the test injector!

-POSITION STORM INJECTOR FOR FIRST TEST-

Place the storm injector coil

approximately 1 meter from

the center of the antenna at

Position A.  Align the injector

coil edge wise to the center of

the antenna.  Make sure the

injector loop is oriented the

same as the antenna loops.

First Storm Injection Test

1- Place LR in Manual AGC. Observe that your getting some strikes, on the radar screen.

2-Make sure everything is connected and setup for the test.

3-Start the Generator.  Then increase the output until you observe the injected storm

shown on the right. It should be in the same physical location as the injection position.

POSITION 2 TEST

1-Move the storm injector to position B.  You should get the storm in the NE quad of the

plot.

If the dot moves the opposite direction, or to a different quadrant, you have wiring problems!  Make sure the cw-ccw or any boxes are not checked on the antenna setup tab.  Also make sure to maintain the injector alignment to the center of the antenna while moving about the antenna.  Other wise it can foil the test.

2- Don't worry about the exact readings of the dot degree wise.  The important thing is that it follows you around the antenna, and shows physically where you are injecting.

3- Things to look for is opposite direction movement, or wrong quadrant location from where you physically are located.  Crossed Left and Right channels, cw-ccw errors will show immediately with this test.

4- If you show the wrong quadrant location, make sure your North coil is in fact pointing in  the right direction and not 90 degrees out.  Then repeat the test.

5-End result:

If it follows you around the antenna, it will follow the storms!
